Ruben & Clay: Twenty/The Tour Comes to the CCPA on Fri., November 17, 8:00 PM

CERRITOS, CA – Two decades after their storied run on American Idol, Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken reunite at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts (CCPA) on Friday, November 17, 8:00 PM. Tickets start at $39.

Studdard and Aiken have sold more than 8 million albums worldwide, scoring legions of Billboard Awards and American Music Awards. From Studdard’s soulful single Sorry to Aiken’s iconic rendition of Bridge Over Troubled Water, RUBEN & CLAY: TWENTY/THE TOUR highlights the music that made the duo household names.

Both plucked from the relative obscurity of their Southern hometowns, Studdard and Aiken became audience favorites on the 2003 season of Fox’s American Idol. Combined, the two crooners have been nominated for two Grammys, recorded 12 albums, toured the country 14 times, and starred together on Broadway.

Dubbed “The Velvet Teddy Bear” by Billboard, Studdard was hailed as “the next Luther Vandross.” The New York Times raved, “He has the precision and warmth of a top-shelf R&B crooner.”

After claiming the second-season American Idol crown, Studdard released Soulful, which earned him a Grammy nod for “Best Male R&B Vocal Performance” for the hit Superstar. The singer was honored with the NAACP’s Image Award for “Best New Artist” and nominated for the American Music Award for “Favorite Male Soul/R&B Artist.”

Studdard’s 2004 chart-topping album I Need an Angel was crowned the No. One “Gospel Album of the Year” by Billboard. His romance-themed album Unconditional Love features collaborations with Stevie Wonder, Eric Benet, and Lalah Hathaway. Studdard also starred in the Broadway production Ain’t Misbehavin’, which spawned a Grammy-nominated soundtrack.

Aiken “is a powerhouse singer, and his voice is still clear as a bell,” raved The Columbus Dispatch. Aiken’s first solo album, Measure of a Man, debuted at No. One on the Billboard 200, receiving the RIAA Double Platinum certification. The album spawned the hit singles Invisible and This Is the Night. Aiken’s riveting version of Bridge Over Troubled Water won the Billboard Award for best-selling single of 2003. His 2004 holiday release, Merry Christmas With Love, set a record for the fastest-selling holiday album of the SoundScan era. It remains one of the highest-charting debuts of a holiday album in Billboard history.

Aiken received wide acclaim for his performance in the Broadway production of Monty Python's Spamalot. He has also appeared on the television shows 30 Rock, The Office, Scrubs, Days of Our Lives, and Law & Order: SVU.
