CCPA Moves to the Beat of Drum Tao on Sun., April 14, 7:00 PM
CERRITOS, CA – “The highly acclaimed debut of Drum Tao in Broadway will represent not only Japanese entertainment but Japan itself,” raved Newsweek. Enjoyed by more than 9 million fans in more than 26 countries, the award-winning ensemble marks its 30th anniversary with a show at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts (CCPA) on Sunday, April 14, 7:00 PM. Established in 1993 with the dream of creating the best show in the world using Taiko Japanese drums, DRUM TAO is now widely embraced across the globe for its phenomenal performances and unique melodies merging Wadaiko drums with Japanese flutes and harps in what is being called the “Japanese Entertainment” for a new generation.
The troupe has performed at the Olympics and with the Bolshoi Ballet. Drum Tao was honored with the “Outstanding Cultural Contribution” award, the “Japan Tourism Agency Commissioner Award,” and the “Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications Award” from the Japanese government. The Edingburgh Evening News heralded, “Undoubtedly one of the finest shows.”
The group consists of three different teams that collectively perform 700 shows yearly.
